Welcome to a world of possibilities.

Is thinking about a career making you wonder what avenue might best use your creative abilities? Can you envision one day being rewarded for what you naturally love to do? Is there a place that will allow you to explore your artistic potential without accumulating overwhelming debt?

The answer is yes, Florida School of the Arts.

Florida School of the Arts has been in existence for over 30 years. Graduates of our two-year programs have elected to finish their education at other four-year institutions, or they have entered directly into the workforce, well equipped to compete in their respective fields.

Society needs artists – not only to bring beauty into our lives, but also to imagine, invent, and create the civilization of tomorrow.

Steps to Apply

Application paperwork should arrive at Florida School of the Arts prior to your selected audition or review date.

From the link at the bottom of this page, fill out the application. Please be aware that there is a link on the site for first-time applicants. Once you have created a login and password, you may use them again to log into to your application repeatedly allowing for multiple sessions until you are ready to submit it. Be advised that in the application you are asked to select an audition/portfolio review date. Be careful to select a date that is appropriate to your chosen start date. For instance, if you are attempting to start in the Spring semester, a February audition date will be too late. And finally, we highly recommend using Firefox or Safari browsers for the application process (do not use Internet Explorer).

Write a resume of your artistic endeavors listing art classes and activities in which you have been involved and their dates. If you are self-taught, please indicate that.

This may be submitted by email to Dana Cotton at DanaCotton@sjrstate.edu. You may also mail it  to:

It is always recommended that candidates come to the campus for a face to face interview. However, when distances are too great or schedules don’t allow for travel to the school on the specific dates, it is also possible to apply with an electronic portfolio or video audition. If you would like to submit an electronic portfolio or video audition, please contact Dana Cotton at DanaCotton@sjrstate.edu for instructions.
