ACTING 0155

Associate in Science Degree

The Acting Associate in Science degree program provides intensive training of the voice, body, and creative imagination. Both in the classroom and through the production schedule, students are mentored in a variety of performance assignments in order to develop their full potential as theatre artists. Each year freshman and sophomores audition for and perform leading roles on the Florida School of the Arts main stage. Because theatre is a collaborative art, the training program also includes instruction in the area of backstage operations. Completion of the degree prepares students to enter the performance world as trained actors or to pursue advanced studies at a University or Conservatory. In order to help students achieve these goals, the faculty places a heavy emphasis on auditioning, resume preparation, and the networking skills necessary for an upcoming actor to launch a career.
