Palatka, Florida


Palatka is the largest city in Putnam County and is located in Northeast Florida.

The city of Palatka is rich in culture, nature and history and is home to more than 10,000 people. Palatka hosts several festivals each year and has two historic districts.

PALATKA is:
  • 1 hour south of Jacksonville
  • 1 hour east of Gainesville
  • 1 hour northwest of Daytona Beach
  • 30 minutes west of St. Augustine
  • 2 hours north of Orlando

The St. Johns River flows north through the county and adjoining counties.

Water, water everywhere... There are more than 70 square miles of recreational rivers and lakes. There are approximately eight springs, abundant with wildlife, within a 60 mile radius. Millions of gallons of cold, crystal clear water flow from each spring daily. You can swim, snorkel, canoe in most. You may even see a Manatee.

DIRECTIONS

From Tampa or south of Tampa:
Take I-75 north past Ocala to Exit #368 (CR 318/Irvine Exit).
Exit right/east and travel through Citra.
Stay on CR 318 until you dead end into CR 315.
Turn left and travel north on 315 for a few miles.
When you see CR 310 turn right and continue traveling on 310 until you dead end into State Road 19.
Turn left on State Road 19. Continue on State Road 19.
At the fourth stoplight in Palatka, turn left on St. Johns Avenue and drive one block.
You will see St. Johns River Community College.
Continue on St. Johns Ave. past St. Johns River Community College until you see College Road.
Turn left onto College Road.
Florida School of the Arts will be on your left.
You will see two light-brick buildings. Enter the building on the right.
The Main Office will be on the left after you have entered into the building.


From South Florida or south of Daytona:
Travel north on I-95.
Past Daytona, you will come to Exit #284/Highway 100.
Exit and travel west, follow the signs for SR 100 that will dead end into US 17.
Turn right and travel into Palatka. You will cross a bridge over the St. Johns River.
Continue on US 17 north until you reach SR 19. Turn left onto SR 19.
At the third light, turn right on St. Johns Avenue.
Continue on St. Johns Ave. past St. Johns River Community College until you see College Road.
Turn left onto College Road.
Florida School of the Arts will be on your left.
You will see two light-brick buildings. Enter the building on the right.
The Main Office will be on the left after you have entered into the building.


From the Orlando Area:
Travel north on I-4 until you see Exit 114 (SR-472/Orange City/Deland).
Bear right onto off-ramp at Exit 114.
Continue onto SR 472 W and go northwest for 2.5 miles to US 17 North.
Continue on US 17 North until you see Spring Garden Rd./Taylor Rd.
Turn left on this street and travel north. This road is also State Road 15A.
Continue on this road for several miles (less than ten miles) until you reach US 17 North.
Turn left on US 17 North. You are bypassing Deland by traveling on State Road 15A.
Continue on US 17 North through Pierson, Seville, and Crescent City.
You will travel through Palatka on US 17 North until US 17 N and State Road 100 forks off.
Turn left at the fork and continue until the intersection of State Road 19.
Turn left.
At the second stoplight, turn right onto St. Johns Avenue.
Continue on St. Johns Ave. past St. Johns River Community College until you see College Road.
Turn left onto College Road.
Florida School of the Arts will be on your left.
You will see two light-brick buildings. Enter the building on the right.
The Main Office will be on the left after you have entered into the building.


From the Pensacola/Tallahassee Area:
Travel east on I-10 until you see a sign reading "Exit 301 to US41/Lake City/White Springs."
Bear right onto off- ramp at exit 301 to US 41 South (SR 25 S, SR 100 S).
Take US 41 S ramp and continue onto US 41 S.
Stay on US 41 S until you see SR 10A (Baya Avenue).
Bear left on SR 10A (Baya Avenue) until you see SR 100.
Turn right on SR 100 and drive approximately 70 miles on SR 100.
You will drive through numerous small towns including Lake Butler, Starke, & Keystone Heights.
When you reach SR 19, turn right.
At the second stoplight, turn right onto St. Johns Avenue.
Continue on St. Johns Ave. past St. Johns River Community College until you see College Road.
Turn left onto College Road.
Florida School of the Arts will be on your left.
You will see two light-brick buildings. Enter the building on the right.
The Main Office will be on the left after you have entered into the building.


From St Augustine:
Travel west on SR 207 through Hastings until you dead end at US 17.
Turn right on US 17.
Travel through Palatka on US 17 North until US 17 N and State Road 100 forks off.
Turn left at the fork and continue until the intersection of State Road 19.
Turn left.
At the second stoplight, turn right onto St. Johns Avenue.
Continue on St. Johns Ave. past St. Johns River Community College until you see College Road.
Turn left onto College Road.
Florida School of the Arts will be on your left.
You will see two light-brick buildings. Enter the building on the right.
The Main Office will be on the left after you have entered into the building.


From Jacksonville:
Travel south on US 17 through Green Cove Springs and Bostwick.
Continue on US 17 until you reach SR 19.
Turn right onto SR 19 (the only way you can turn.)
You will see a soccer complex/playground.
At the third stoplight, turn right onto St. Johns Avenue.
Continue on St. Johns Ave. past St. Johns River Community College until you see College Road.
Turn left onto College Road.
Florida School of the Arts will be on your left.
You will see two light-brick buildings. Enter the building on the right.
