YOUR AUDITION
Included in the admission process to Florida School of the Arts is your audition and an interview.
During the audition, you may be asked questions regarding the following topics:
- Career goals
- College goals and expectations
- Arts-related training
- Arts experience
- General background

AUDITION/PORTFOLIO DATES
ACTING
The acting audition consists of the presentation of monologues and an interview.
The guidelines are:
- Choose two contrasting monologues from realistic, contemporary, or near-contemporary plays that are age appropriate.
- Demonstrate your natural speaking voice. No foreign dialects or character voices.
- Each selection should be one minute or less.

MUSICAL THEATER
The musical theater audition consists of an acting, voice, AND dance audition.
Be prepared to perform the following:
- Acting - Present two contrasting monologues. Follow the acting guidelines.
- Voice - Prepare one ballad and one upbeat number from the Broadway musical repertoire. Bring a taped accompaniment. If an accompanist is needed, make arrangements with our office.
- Dance - Prepare a two-minute dance solo that includes the following elements:
pirouette - pas de bouree
- battement
- stag leap
- jazz runs
- jazz squares
- grapevine
- fan kick
- isolations
- hitch-kick
- chaine or pique turns

DANCE - Ballet and Contemporary
Dance candidates are judged on artistic interpretaion, movement retention, accuracy of movement, alginment, and training.
The dance audition constists of an audition class and a two-minute solo. The dance requirements are:
- Dress appropriately in leotard and tights. Have ballet shoes, pointe shoes, etc.
- Participate in an audition class consisting of both ballet and contemporary dance techniques.
- Perform a two-minute dance solo. You or another choreographer may choreograph the dance solo.

DANCE STUDIO MANAGEMENT & DANCE ENTERTAINMENT
Consists of intermediate ballet, jazz and tap audition classes.
Dress appropriately in leotard and tights and have ballet, jazz and tap shoes, etc.
